As Season One of It’s PR Darlings has drawn to a close and co-hosts Greer Quinn of Forward Communications and Jo Stone of Sticks and Stones PR have begun producing Season Two, the duo has paused to reflect on the highlights and why they kicked off the project in the first place.
Some of the stellar reporting the world has witnessed during the pandemic and other compounded crises has filled Greer and Jo with renewed admiration and awe for the media industry, so they were especially pleased to dust off their radio craft skills and explore this new communications platform of podcasting.
To combat the lack of understanding on how news becomes news and to shine a spotlight on the often complex relationships between journalists and public relations practitioners, two former media colleagues have joined forces to demystify the often misunderstood professions of PR and journalism.
Due to launch mid-January, the It’s PR Darlings podcast is a joint venture between Greer Quinn of Forward Communications and Jo Stone of Sticks and Stones PR who’ve been dusting off their much loved radio craft skills to produce the show alongside their “day jobs”.
Meet Jo Stone - one half of the PR Darlings. Jo is a former ABC TV and Channel 7 Melbourne newsreader and award-winning journalist.
She started her career in metro radio in Brisbane covering politics, courts, general news and sports rounds. Her role at the ABC expanded to become one of the broadcasters first bi-media journalists, providing content for both radio and TV.
